Blog #4: Case Study: Joker from “The Dark Knight"

Friends,

Since it costs $9.50 to see a movie at my local theater, I hardly ever attend, or for that matter pay attention to the latest summer releases.  But the Batman movie “The Dark Knight” was impossible to miss due to its intense media coverage.

This weekend the marketing paid off.  “The Dark Knight” brought in more than $155 million, the largest box office premiere of all time.  Yes, throw my $10 into that pot!  Although the three-hour epic sported a big budget, great storyline, and action-packed events, much of the movie’s success is credited to the late Heath Ledger’s portrayal of Batman’s nemesis, the Joker.

Now I won’t spoil the movie for you.   But I am going to discuss the characteristics of the Joker in regards to his hypothetical “Highlands Ability Battery” profile.

In regards to his Personal Style, the Joker is definitely a Specialist, as he has a unique, individual way of looking at the world.  He works independently and autonomously, and is more knowledgeable than anyone about Batman and what makes him tick.  The Joker is an Extrovert, as can be seen through his gathering energy from external events, especially through the havoc he creates.  Obviously, he is also very sociable and expressive and enjoys interacting with whomever.

As for the Joker’s driving abilities, if he were a real person to be tested, his scores would be very interesting.  He would score high in Classification since he has an amazing ability to see relationships between seemingly unrelated events, situations, and information.  You can notice this through his dialogue regarding events in life in which we may not pay close attention.  He would score high in Concept Organization as his planning and initiation of attacks and catastrophe are ingenious.  The Joker’s score in Idea Productivity would be low since he has very strong focus and is rarely distracted.

That was just a highly-educated assumption on the Joker’s aptitudes, based on observing him for less than three hours.  Imagine what YOU could learn about YOURSELF by taking “The Highlands Ability Battery.”  I guarantee you would learn about the work environment you would prefer, the driving abilities that demand attention, and other abilities that could help you both personally and professionally.

Please call, email, or check out my website for more information regarding “The Highlands Ability Battery.”

Yours truly,
