Blog #6: Strengths and Stumbling Blocks

Friends,

This life is full of cliched quotes and phrases.  However, if we can personally apply some of these quotes, we may find them worthwhile.

One of the quotes I am referring to is the following:  "Our greatest strength is our greatest weakness."  Think for a moment how this may apply to you.

One of the final sections of the Highlands Ability Battery Report discusses "Work Types."  Work types are generic, transferable functions classified as strong, good, moderate, or weak matches based on a combination of several of our ability percentiles.  "Planning, Strategic" is one example, defined as, "Planning for long-term, directional movement in an organization or group."  This work type could be applied to countless jobs, careers, or personal pursuits.

Personally, my lone strong match is "Paying Attention to Details," which is "Seeing and attending to small details of projects and processes."  This is my greatest strength, and I can see it prevalent in many facets of my life, including grammar errors jumping out from text or speeches.

However, "Paying Attention to Details" is also my greatest weakness.  Bad grammar, word choice, or presentation can blind me from a speech's intended, revealing message.  Finishing a project can become stressful because I get bogged down in the details.  Giving someone a helpful suggestion after noticing an error is sometimes interpreted as criticism or judgment.

What is YOUR greatest strength, and therefore, YOUR greatest weakness?  Identifying this now could be very helpful in selecting a career, increasing work performance, or creating harmony with coworkers.  If you are ready to find out your greatest strength, contact me directly to schedule an appointment to take The Highlands Ability Battery.

Have a great week, and look to use your strengths to your advantage.

Yours truly,
