Blog #8: The Whole Person Process
Friends,
For several weeks I have talked on the importance of the Highlands Ability Battery in regards to selecting possible careers. That is true, but let me tell you, as Paul Harvey says, "the rest of the story."
The Highlands Company, and FOCUSED PURSUIT, LLC, recognizes that there are several reasons why we should choose certain occupations. Here are the eight factors in making career decisions, called "The Whole Person Process."
THE WHOLE PERSON PROCESS
1. Abilities
2. Skills
3. Interests
4. Personal Style (Generalist/Specialist; Extrovert/Introvert)
5. Family
6. Values
7. Goals
8. Career Development Cycle (college graduate, recently retired, etc.)
Does it make sense when you think about it? One person chooses a job to pay the bills and support his family (#5 Family). Another selects a career because she really likes the field (#3 Interests). Another guy hones in on an occupation because it makes a great deal of money (#6 Values).
I believe our ideal careers consider ALL eight of these factors. I challenge you today to do some internal investigating, perform some journaling, and find out what your WHOLE PERSONL PROCESS looks like.
Give me a call or drop me an email to discuss your WHOLE PERSON PROCESS further.
Yours truly,
Mike Meier, MBA
