BLOGGING IN BEIJING #15: The China Grand Canyon

On Sunday, April 26, I visited the Grand Canyon.  No, not the one in Arizona - the one in Beijing!

Pinggu District (formerly Pingu County), which is the most eastern part of Beijing municipality, is home of the largest canyon in all of China.  It is quite a beautiful area, as you can see below.

I have SEEN many attractions, but none have truly involved participation...until this one.  See below.

Don't ask how far it was to the bottom.  I didn't want to find out!  I felt like I was in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom."  Not too bad for a price of only 20 RMB ($3).

I was told this park has only been open for 10 years, and no major expressway connects to it.  That means that many Beijingers don't even know about it.  Fun times!
